How to Feed Your Pot Plant

Do I need to add nutrients to my plant?: 

Yes — most Multipurpose Composts only feed for a few weeks. After that, plants depend on you for nutrients! 

Typical Plants:

What?

Use a balanced liquid feed (e.g. tomato feed, seaweed extract, or general all-purpose fertiliser). 

When?

Feed regularly once growth starts, every 1–2 weeks to keeps things ticking.

Succulents:

What?

Use a for succulent/cacti mix – These typically contain less nitrogen.

When?

Only use once per month during spring and early summer. 

How much?

Use half strength for first time feeding.

Long Term Pots:

What?

For bigger containers, mix in a controlled-release fertiliser pellet or a small amount of composted manure or biochar-humus composite when planting.  

How much?
